In 1981, Morris Norman competed in the ISDE in Italy. Many of his District 37 competitors in the senior divisions contributed money to a fund to help him finance the trip.

"Ron Hubbard, the senior steward at the time orginized the fund. He raised $2500 for me which paid for most of my trip. I was very happy for all the help.
At the time Husky had a problem with the shifting linkage. Of the seven bikes that broke I was the only one who knew how to fix the bike and after losing an hour I pushed the bike thru a check and finished fixing it on the other side. I was an hour and 15 minutes down, but managed to get to the next check with 10 minutes to spare. The bike broke a second time as I was coming into a check on day 4. This time I had all needed parts on me so it took 1/2 hour to fix. The whole team finished that year and I was the only one who had any problems." - Morris Norman, 2007
