The CHP Blues

It's the early 60's and I'm out on a trail ride with 3 other guys. We had ridden 50 or so miles out from camp, and were on our way back when we came to a highway crossing. As we rode down to the highway, we saw a CHP car waiting for us. We stop and the guy gets out and walks up to us and says, "You can cross, but if I see any tires touch the road, I'm writing you a ticket." So we took turns, two guys to a bike, and carried the bikes across. Remember, the bikes were heavy back then! The lightest bike on our ride was over 300 lbs. the whole time the CHP guy just stood there, leaning against his car watching us...
